Comparison Hydroponics
10th Day Comparison
- The hydroponic tomato plant started out at 6.2 inches but only grew .25 of an inch over the course of 10 days. The soil plant started out an inch shorter at about 5 inches but grew .5 of an inch within the trial range.
- This information proves the hypothesis wrong because the soil plant grew .25 of an inch more than the hydroponic plant. From this project it is concluded that hydroponics, though commercially efficient and time-saving, is not practical for the amateur. There are too many risky factors involved- most importantly, it is easy to have an unbalanced nutrient solution, which will stunt the growth of the plants.
Growth Over 10 Days
Soil Vs. Hydroponics Day 1
What is Hydroponics?
- The process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil.
- Hydroponics can produce higher crop yields and is mostly used in climates that cannot support soil plant growth.
Question
Does a plant grow faster in a hydroponics solution or will a plant grow faster in the traditional soil method.
Hypothesis
If a plant is grown in a hydroponic solution, then it will grow faster and healthier than a plant placed in regular soil.
