Fractals

By Edgar J. Christian V. and Cesar D.

Benoit Mandelbort: The creator of Fractals

What are Fractals

A fractal is a never ending pattern. Fractals are infinitively complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop.

What are fractals used for?

Fractals are used in astronomy, nature, computer science, fluid mechanics, telecommunications, surface physics, and medicine. Fractals have more and more applications in science. The main reason is that they are very often describe the real world better than traditional mathematics and physics.

Fractals in Nature

Fractals are found everywhere in nature from leaves to animals to humans and mountains.

This sunflower has the shape of a fractal.

This proves that fractals are everywhere in

nature.
