Happy employees = More Profits to the business

Management roles according to Argyris:

  • Motivating, helping and leading employees in the right way can increase the interest of employees at work. Which helps them to achieve their targets on time.
  • Example of an Organization: Google
  • The Boss
  • The Manager's role
  • The Employee's role

Maturity/Immaturity Theory

“Real Leaders Don’t Boss”

Where/When this style would be suitable?

  • An excellent management style is when employees are encouraged and lead properly.
  • They tend to work hard and are focused on their goal. When there is an increase in absenteeism, apathy and discords between the employees, It would signify that there is a poor management running in the business.
  • Firstly, individuals move from a passive state as infants

to a state of increasing activity as adults.

  • Secondly, individuals begin to become independent

and not having to rely on others as an adult

  • Third, individuals behave in only a few ways as infants,

but as adults they are capable of behaving in many ways.

  • Fourthly, individuals have erratic, casual, and

shallow interests as infants but develop deeper and

stronger interests as adults.

  • Fifthly, the time perspective of children is very short,

involving only the present, but as they mature, their

time perspective increases to include the past and the future.

  • Sixthly, individuals as infants are subordinate to everyone,

but they move to equal or superior positions with others as adults.

  • Seventhly. as children, individuals lack an awareness of a “self,”
  • but as adults they are not only aware of, but they are able to control “self.”

What is his theory?

  • He believes that people work efficiently when their tasks are well defined and clear.
  • Managers should treat their employees positively.
  • Increasing the responsibilities of the workers, allowing them to participate in decisions can increase their productivity.
  • Promoting better Human Relations and a friendly environment can help in increasing the enthusiasm of employees at work.

Chris Argyris

  • Explored contrasts between management practices and need/capabilities of adults
  • Believed people need less structure, because it creates more limits.
