The artery runs on the right inside the lesser sac and enters the lesser omentum. It passes towards the porta hepatis. Giving off the right gastric artery, it then splits into the proper hepatic artery and the gastroduodenal artery.
Common hepatic artery
Location: Arises from the celiac artery ( it is a part of the celiac trunk)
Function: The common hepatic artery serves as a short blood vessel that provides oxygenated blood to the liver, duodenum, pancreas and the pylorus.
Sinusoid
Circulation of blood through the liver tissue
Sinusoids are small blood vessel's, classified as a type of Open Pore Capillary (discontinuous). It is a location for the oxygen rich blood from the hepatic portal vein.
Blood flows through the sinusoids to the central vein while Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Nutrients, Proteins and waste are exchanged through the thin walls of the sinusoids.
It relieves blood from terminal branches of the hepatic artery and portal vein and delivers it to the central vein
- Function: To supply metabolic substrates to the liver and to maintain the ingested substances are first processed by the liver before entering normal circulation.
- Nutrition of blood from the small intestine
Hepatic Portal Vein
- A vessel that moves blood from the spleen and gastrointestinal tract to the liver's capillary beds
- It is around 3 to 4 inches in length
- It supplies around 75% of hepatic blood flow

Hepatic Vein
They are the blood vessels that drain deoxygenated blood from the liver and the blood cleaned by the liver.
None of the hepatic veins have "valves" they just have (upper groups and lower groups)
Afterwards, they drain it into the inferior vena cava (largest vein that carries deoxygenated blood)
