Iris is the god of the rainbow and she connects the gods with humanity.

As the goddess of rainbows, color is her main characteristic.
Iris was the messenger of the gods. Hermes was also a messenger of the gods. She carried divine messages to mortals and was said to have travelled on a rainbow while doing so. She is seen a message of hope and serves as a bridge between heaven and earth.
Iris plays a significant role in the trojan war as being the messenger of Zeus. She delivered the message to “let each man who is the leader, give orders to these men and let each set his citizens in order and lead them.
Iris is the daughter of Thaumas and Electra. Iris was an oceanid which means that her father, who had been a sea-god, must’ve passed his traits down to Iris.
Iris carries messages between the mortal world and the gods.
Iris is said to have golden wings.
She is also said to carry a water pitcher with her so that she can create rainbows while she is up in the sky.
Iris is the goddess of the rainbow and when she brings down a message of the gods, she is said to be riding on a rainbow.

Iris lives on Mt. Olympus along with all the other important gods, except for Hades.
Iris is portrayed as being the goddess of hope, however there were some conflicting ideas saying that it showed as much elusiveness and is unpredictable as the rainbow itself is.
The only weakness found about Iris would be her loyalty to several different gods and her lasting reputation for her sisters being Harpys.
The Greek word Iris means “the rainbow” where the word eiris means “messenger” . Iris’s roman name is Arcus.
