Qatar's role in the Field of International Peace

Instituting and laying the foundation of its presence abroad through exchange of embassies and consular missons with different countries and by joining organisations such as the United Nations the Arab Legue, the Non-Allignment Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Structuring close relations between Qatar and countries around the world to convert it into an succesful factor in the regional, Arab and international arena by working out many political issues worldwide such as supplying aid to deprived countries and global organisations, supporting causes related to justice (e.g. The Palestinian cause), and other Arab and Islamic causes.

Ending Border Dispute

When the boder issue with the Kingdom of Bahrain began, Qatar sought to find a solution to stop and end the dispute. Qatar introduced the problem to the International Court of Justice as it is one of the international entities specialised in resolving disputes.

A court verdict was issued in 16 March 2001 regarding the severance of the martime regional border between Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Qatar abided by and respected the court's decision resolving the dispute.

Lebanese crisis

There was a Lebanese political crisis caused by political and religious tensions in the country. Qatar succeeded in pursuading Lebanese leaders into a political agreement to avert the risk of a new civil war. Qatar suggested forming an Arab delegation to consider the Lebanese crisis and end the conflict.

Palestinian cause

Palestinian nationalism is the national movement of the Palestinian people for self-determination in and sovereignty over Palestine. Qatar's role in the cause is by ending alliance with Israel when it's military killed over 1200 Palestinians in the Gaza war. Qatar also keeps on and off ties with Israel yet it supported Hamas. Qatar supports Palestine nationalism.

Qatar supports Palestinians by calling on the world to unify and protect them. It helps students pay for universities. Qatar provides finacial and medical assistance. Sheik Hamad bin Thani created reconstruction projects worth 400 million.

In March 2009, the 21st Arab Summit was held in Al Doha. There were many decisions but these were the most important.

Refusal of all forms of building colonies in occupied Arab territories.

Attain a peaceful solution regarding the three debated UAE islands between Iran and UAE.
