Geographical location

Australia is the sixth largest country in the world, located on the Australian continent, which is the smallest of all continents. The eastern and south-eastern coast is the most densely populated. Australia lies in the southern and eastern hemisphere. It is one of the most flat continents with an average height of 330 m. The desert area occupies a larger area than on any other continent; 2/3 of the surface is in a dry or semi-dry climate.

The coastline of Australia is underdeveloped along the entire 19,000-kilometer-long coastline. km you can only meet two large bays: the Gulf of Karpentaria and the Great Australian Bay. The highest peak of the Kościuszko Mountain, discovered and named by Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, rises to 2228 m above sea level.

places

Sydney Opera House

Mention "Sydney, Australia" and most people think of the Opera House. Shaped like huge shells or billowing sails, this famous building on Sydney's Bennelong Point graces the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is one of the world's great architectural icons.

Danish architect, Jørn Utzon won an international competition for its design but withdrew from the project after technical and financing problems. Construction was finally completed in 1973 at a cost ten times the original budget.

Today, you can enjoy a performance here; dine at one of the restaurants; or take a tour of the building, which encompasses theaters, studios, a concert hall, exhibition rooms, and a cinema.

Melbourne

Melbourne, Australia's second largest city, is a popular stop on many Australian itineraries. Galleries, theaters, restaurants, shops, and its distinctly European feel are the main draws of this city. It's also a green city, with parks, gardens, and open spaces occupying almost a third of its total area. Highlights of the city include the Royal Botanic Gardens;

Federation Square; the National Gallery of Victoria;

and the Melbourne Cricket Ground,

where sports fans can watch cricket in the summer

and Australian Rules football in the winter.

Daintree National Park

A Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, Daintree National Park in Far North Queensland is among the most ancient ecosystems on Earth. The park encompasses two main sections: Mossman Gorge, where crystal clear waters gush, and Cape Tribulation, one of the most beautiful places to visit in Australia, where rainforest meets reef along the beaches of the Coral Sea. This stretch of coast is one of the few places in the world where two of the planet's richest ecosystems converge. The park's astounding biodiversity includes more than 18,000 plant species and a vast array of animal species.

Kangaroo Island

Nature takes center stage at beautiful Kangaroo Island off the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Kangaroos hop along the shores, sea lions and penguins frolic in the crystal-clear waters, and koalas cling to the eucalyptus trees. Diving is also excellent. You can spot sea dragons in the temperate waters, and many wrecks lie offshore.

Aboriginal Australians

This group contains many separate cultures that have developed in the various environments of Australia for more than 50,000 years.

Today Aboriginal Australians comprise 3.1% of Australia's population.They also live throughout the world as part of the Australia diaspora. Before extensive European settlement, there were over 200 Aboriginal languages.

However, today most Aboriginal people speak English, with Aboriginal phrases and words being added to create Australian Aboriginal English.

Food- Kangaroo steak

Apparently, kangaroo meat has the lowest fat content of all popular meats. Low fat content makes meat the best in the half-blood version - well-baked will be tough. It has a distinctive sweetish aftertaste. To buy in every supermarket.

Food- Pavlova

It is an extremely sweet dessert based on meringue, served with fruit and whipped cream. Meringue must be crunchy on the outside and soft inside.

Food- Meat pie

Favorite dish of partygoers. This is a kind of savory cake - in a traditional version stuffed with ground beef and sauce.

Food- Vegemite

Vegemite - a paste made of yeast extract with vegetables and spices, popular in Australia and New Zealand. It is used for spreading sandwiches and toasts, sometimes also for cooking

Food- Bush tucker food

In Australian cuisine you should not forget about the traditional cuisine of the indigenous people, which you can try inland in reserves. The ingredients of this cuisine include:

  • Herbs, roots, seeds, palm hearts or fruits
  • Kangaroos, snakes, lizards, turtles and ostriches
  • Insects and insect larvae rich in protein

7. In 2012, The Peppa Pig episode, witch tells us that spiders aren't scary was banned in australia, because children should be aware of danger.
