Geographically India is a very big country which justify the diversity in the food habit and food culture of the people .Nearly 1.2 billion people inhabit this peninsula which also is one of the main reason behind the huge diverseness .

Main food items from different part of India

North India

The daily meals of people in North India consist of chapati, rice, lentils and vegetables. A large number of people are also very fond of non-vegetarian food. Famous foods from this part are tandoori chicken, seekh kebab, wazwan, roti makki, sarso da saag , murg mussallam.

South India

  • The main food of South Indian people is made up of rice like- IDLI, DOSA, VADA, UTTAPAM, ETC.
  • They also have a lot of seafood in their diet like Fish , Shrimps , Squids, lobsters etc..

Wheat, millet and sorghum are consumed in regions such as Gujarat and Rajasthan. An abundance of seafood in Goa and Maharashtra ensures that fish and other seafood are the invariable part of the meal for non-vegetarians.

East India is a hot mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. West Bengal people's fetish for fish, rice and sweet is legendary. Here they use a mix of species called Panch Phoran (five spices), the mixture consists of anise, mustard, fenugreek seed, cumin seed and black cumin seed. Sikkim's cuisine shows the apparent influence of the food culture of neighboring countries, especially Tibet. Sikkim Momos are loved by people all over the country.
