Law Of The Splintered Paddle

Law Of The Splintered Paddle

Or

Kānāwai Māmalahoe

What Is It?

The Story Goes that Kamehameha saw some fisherman who had something he wanted. Kamehameha went to take it but slipped and fell, and his foot got stuck in the rocks.

One of the fisherman saw what happened. He went with his paddle and hit Kamehameha on the head so hard that the paddle broke.

It Means That no Innocent Person will be harmed or killed in Battle.

Years later, the man that stuck Kamehameha was taken before him to be punished. Instead Kamehameha blamed himself for attacking them.
