By-Pass Tubing Slips

Utility

  • Time Savings: Reduction of 70% in time required for installation and lay-down of Y-tool operations

  • Improved Operation: Decreased physical strain and potential injury to employees during tightening and loosening with extension pipes.

  • Enhanced Design: Addresses previous design flaws such as inaccessible lower screw and smooth surface.

  • New Revenue Opportunity: Potential to create a new revenue stream through product sales to clients.

  • Industry Leadership: Demonstrates SLB's commitment to continuous improvement and leadership in the field.

Design

The Clamp is design via soildworks

Note that no load calculation for material selection has been preformed on the design, load torque has been taking in consideration with same dimensions of the previous tool.

This tool will operate on Penumatic pusher to support the weight of the bypass tubing during Y=tool operations,

Dimensions of the design is simillar to previos module, force distribution and weight of parts has not been calculated yet

Main

Main Concept

Concept

ُُEach Two frictional clamps will be connected to a penumatic pusher, both penumatic pushers should be symmetrically calibrated

Pneumatic pusher was determined as best application for this tool for ease of installation and availablity on rig floor.

The pushers will be connected to pressure splitting system to secure balanced clamping, that is connected to the rig pneumatic tubing.

Pushers

Supply Pressure to Pushers at the Site:

  • Tube connects to the pushers at one end with quick-connect coupling

  • Other end connects to air compressor system with threaded fitting

  • Fitting provides secure, leak-free connection

  • Maintaining and inspecting tube and connections is crucial for safe operation

  • Already present or implemented on site as necessary

Safety Considerations

The tool is designed to have a double lock system to avoid human error and/or any item falling and causing the tool to operate unintentionally.

Wider contact surface area with friction material, and the ability to lock the tool to work table to avoid and slipping found in the previous tool.

Safety

Tubing clamps are designed with an angle in a similar application to the slips, to increase the pressure due to gravitational force.

Requirments

Requirments

Required calculations for the load for the pushers, dimensions, and pressure.

Taking in consideration compliance with operational and safety standards.

Working closely with one of SLB manfactures, for Moduling, matrial selection, and connection parts.

Testing the tool initially in a controlled environment, and also testing in real applications.
