LITERATURE REVIEW

LITERATURE REVIEW

The studies I have chosen to help me in my research aim to study the issues and factors that have led to student stress. The results of these studies indicate a negative correlation between self-harm, anxiety, stress, and depression. Anxiety affects students studying science more mentally, physically and emotionally than students studying in other major. The results also indicated that the impact of social, family and health factors on anxiety and stress is significant.

Downs, Hubbard, Reohr, and Tolcher (2018), conducted a study to investigate the frequency of stresses and psychological problems faced by students, the study also targets to examine the issues and factors that led students to stress and stress. An online survey of stress and mental health symptoms was conducted on 564 students from local and national universities, aged between 18 and 24 years. The study found that the students of the university suffer from stress and anxiety in four areas, i ncluding personality and performance. At risk if they are not encouraged to seek help.

In 2018, Razza, Abbasi, Khurshid and Ansari, found that the main objective of this cross-sectional study was to assess the relationship between depression, stress, and anxiety. This six-month study included 322 students, 128 male, and 194 females. Students were assessed using a measure of depression, anxiety, and stress, and self-behaviors were measured using a self-harm inventory. The results revealed that the rate of anxiety and stress in females more than males. The results also indicated a negative relationship between self-harm, anxiety, and stress.

Aafreen, Priya and Gayathri (2018), conducted a study of students who did not deal well with stress to see the impact of stress on their study and behavior. The study was conducted on 80 students studying in different universities and in different disciplines. The study concluded that stress and depression affect students who study in the field of science mentally, physically and emotionally more than students studying in other disciplines. This study can help find a solution to the causes of students' stress.

The main purpose of the study is to explore how depression, anxiety and stress affect mental health. An electronic questionnaire was conducted with 148 students (37 males and 111 females) from a large university in Toronto, Canada. They are between 19 and 54 years old. The questions were about levels of anxiety and stress. The results of the study indicate the need to address the various factors that affect the health of students. It also found that the impact of specific factors such as social, family and self-health factors on anxiety and stress is strong. (Othman, Ahmad, El Morr & Ritvo, 2019).

Finally, I chose these articles because they are closely related to my topic. Also, since the target age group in my research is similar to that in these studies, the results of these studies can be compared with my study to reach a more specific conclusion. My research will include an answer to the question. DISCUSSION

Discussion

The greater the impact of stress and anxiety on student's mental health, the lower their academic level. Data from the survey reveals that the greater the level of anxiety and stress students have, the greater their exposure to depression and the impact on their mental health. A negative correlation was observed between the level of anxiety and the academic performance of the students.

conclusions

89.5% of students believe that the stress and anxiety they experience has caused their academic performance to decline. In addition, 63.2% of students suffer from anxiety in their studies due to exams. Approximately 79% of students experience sleep problems due to anxiety caused by their studies. This suggests that stress and anxiety have a negative impact on students. These observations are therefore consistent with the literature review presented in the introduction.

Conclusions

What I suggest?

What I suggest?

I suggest that future research related to this topic should study the difference between the stress and anxiety faced by female and male students. I also propose that research be presented on the impact of the problem’s students face in their lives on their level of anxiety and stress and how that can affect their academic performance.
