- No mentors, in fact you work independently over your own team.
- No director of residents
The Athletic Trainer- Resident is to support the medical needs of athletes at the local University, while promoting the Intermountain Sports Medicine programs. Under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, this position will provide medical coverage both 'on-the-field' and in the training room for injured athletes during practices and events. Such duties may also extend to assist area high schools, community sporting events, and regional sporting camps/activities.
I propose an Orthopedic Residency working with Doctors through Intermountain Hospital.

Starting a residency and coordinating all the moving parts is a full time job. This job should be hired through Intermountain hospital based on the growth of the city, and need of medical coverage based on population increase. A budget should then be established to hire at least one full Athletic Trainer per year for the next 5 years to match the areas need. We need some retention of the Ahtletic Trainers we invest in.
CAATE changes their requirements for accredidation every 5 years. In order to make this residency sustainable we need not only someone working full time as the director who integrates multiple doctors and athletic trainers to build a community.
