Definition

The Taming of the Shrew

Summary

The first part of Taming of the Shrew is trying to find a husband for both of the Baptista daughters. It's easy to find a husband for Bianca (youngest daughter) because she is a very nice person. Katherina on the other hand (oldest daughter) is hard to find a husband because she is very argumentative. After a while Katherina finally found a man that wanted her only for her money but he was always very rude and controlling. He didn't really show it until after the wedding. Bianca on the other hand found a husband but couldn't marry him until after her sister got married.

Characters

Katherina- She is Bapista's oldest daughter. She is the hand full daughter in the beginning and then becomes well behaved at the end.

Main

Charaters

Petruchio- He is a controlling man that wants to find a wife and has to be rich.

Conclusion

The main point of my presentation is that Petruchio treats everyone like he always has to be the leader. Katherina had no say in anything at the end of the story because of Petruchio. Now she thinks she always has to obey her husband and not talk back.

Conclusion

The Taming of the Shrew

The Taming of the Shrew written by William Shakespeare

Title of the book

1st example

My first example of Satire in the play is when Petruchio said "So if you know a woman rich enough to be Petruchio's wife—and wealth is the biggest factor for me—it doesn't matter if she's as ugly." This is and example of satire because he is saying that doesn't matter about looks if she is rich then she is a good wife already.

First Example

Second Example

Second Example

Another example of satire is when Petruchio said "She's marrying me, not my clothes." What that means is he showed up on his wedding days in rags and that men back then can really do whatever they want.

Third example

The last example of Satire is also when Petruchio said "And I also have another plan to tame my wild hawk, to make her come and recognize her owner's call." This means that he is trying to tame Katherina like she is some animal. He wants to be more of her master then her husband.
