Introduction
“May you live to be one hundred and may the last voice you hear be mine.” Frank Sinatra is a significant part of history, crucially changing music for the better. Determined, classy, and passionate are just a few words to describe this game-changing man. Sinatra devoted his life to entertainment as a musician, singer, and enthusiast of the show business industry. He set his priorities and achieved them without letting failure get in the way. As a result of his fearless mindset, he drastically influenced the jazz genre and overall music itself.

Francis Albert Sinatra was born December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was born to Italian immigrants, Natalie “Dolly” Garaventa and Anthony Martin Sinatra. Sinatra grew up in a mostly Italian-American Working Class neighborhood. This was a rough neighborhood, so he went to boxing classes in order to receive self defense.

Sinatra possessed a deep adoration for music as soon as his father handed him a ukulele for the first time. He often went out on summer nights and sang while strumming this instrument. Sinatra found that music and entertainment was his passion, so he joined the school glee club and performed at local nightclubs to pursue it.

Frank Sinatra's mother, Natalie Garaventa, was a nurse and amateur singer. She was an icon in the music industry, and went by"Dolly" because of her beautiful appearance. His father, Anthony Martin Sinatra, was a fire-fighter, professional boxer, and businessman. Both parents assisted Frank in his show business career.

Sinatra’s biggest musical influence was Bing Crosby. After watching a performance by him in the 1930’s, Sinatra was inspired to pursue music and entertainment. Billie Holiday was another substantial inspiration to Frank. Her genre and technique influenced him tremendously.

When Sinatra first began his career in the show business industry, he did not work alone. Harry James, a well known band leader, recognized Sinatra’s potential and wrote recordings with him, including “All or Nothing at All.” After seven months with James, Sinatra joined bandleader Tommy Dorsey. This collaboration skyrocketed his career, and for many years, they were the Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.

Sinatra and Dorsey were a particularly small band until their hit “I’ll Never Smile Again” gained attention and popularity. Throughout their careers together, they made other crucial hits such as “Marie,” “How About You,” and “I Think of You.” Many famous record dealers began to recognize their potential, and their popularity spread rapidly. Frank Sinatra’s name was on the cover of newspapers and billboards. This was the peak of Sinatra’s career. Due to the fame he was receiving, he decided to go solo.

Sinatra’s career as a soloist was very influential and successful. He continued to grow in fame, releasing many new hit singles. Sinatra began to focus more on entertainment, considering his music was already achieving popularity. In 1943, he released the films Reveille with Beverly and Higher and Higher. During post war times, Sinatra was rewarded for his time and work. He won an Academy Award, an Oscar, over ten Grammy Awards, four Golden Globe awards, and more. He approached a new vocal outlet when he received a Capitol Records recording contract in the late 1950’s. Jack Entratter, a business executive, invited him to perform at the Sands Hotel and Casino in 1953. The first decade Frank Sinatra was in showbiz was a very successful point in

Frank Sinatra died on May 14, 1998. He lived to the age of 83. His last words were simply “I’m losing it.” Shortly after he spoke, he died of a heart attack. Sinatra fulfilled his passion of becoming a famous entertainer and musician. He left a large impact on the musical world, and his legacy still lives on. Without him, music and entertainment today would be very different. Frank Sinatra played a crucial role in the development of the jazz genre and show business industry.
