Whether it is internal or external, conflict often makes any story more exciting, and often changes the main character(s).

A political campaign between two people demonstrates person vs. person conflict because they are both struggling to sway people to their side.

Heartbreak

A married couple going through a divorce can find themselves in conflict over emotions, finances, and children.

Fights depict two people physically struggling with one another.

Law

A lawsuit shows people struggling to gain the judge's favor and win a case.

A person vs. nature conflict shows a character having a problem with nature and fighting against the elements.

Plant Life

A personified plant could be a character, and a struggle it could face would be surviving in a cruel environment.

Person vs. supernatural is a conflict between a character and something that is otherworldly or fantastical.

A character who has to face off against gods (or gods facing off against each other).

Ghosts

Ghosts and haunted places can be a source of conflict.

Monsters

People can also face off against creatures or monsters.

Person vs. technology is a popular conflict in science fiction where a character goes against a machine of some sort.

Robots

A character may be overrun by a robot that they have created and has taken on a life of its own.

Computer

Conflict between a character and a computer with artificial intelligence is an example of person vs. technology.

Transportation

Regardless of the type, transportation can be a source of conflict for a character no matter when the story takes place.
