The 6-Day War

Hamas Launches Surprise attack on Israel

Israli Disengagement with Gaza

Q&A

Following an unprecedented surprise attack by Hamas on Israel, there was a violent outburst. Israeli media reports that the conflict's early attacks were the bloodiest attack in the nation's history, with at least 250 people killed and 1,500 injured in Israel. Additionally, Hamas captured about 250 Israelis as captives.

Questions/Concerns/Data. Ask away

Israel starts to unilaterally remove its armed forces and settlers from the Gaza Strip. Airspace, shoreline, and all of Gaza's borders—aside from Egypt's jurisdiction over the Gaza-Egypt border—remain under Israeli military authority. Following Israel's withdrawal, smaller militant factions such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad launch missiles from Gaza into southern Israel.

The Six-Day War is fought between Israel and many of its Arab neighbors. Israel triumphs decisively, suffering only seven hundred casualties compared to roughly twenty thousand for its opponents. Israel emerges victorious, controlling all of East Jerusalem along with the mostly Palestinian-populated West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israel also seizes control of the Sinai Peninsula, which is a portion of Egypt, and the Golan Heights in Syria. Israel seeks to remain on the Sinai Peninsula till April of 1982.

Trump Proposed Peace Plan

The Start: UN Partiton Plan

First Intifada

Understaning Everything

Four Palestinians are killed by an Israeli motorist in a vehicle accident, which ignites the first intifada, or uprising, against Israeli occupation in the Gaza and West Bank. The enduring image of the intifada is Palestinians hurling rocks at Israeli tanks. Roughly 200 Israelis and 1,300 Palestinians die in the following six years.

Where do you stand? According to the charts most of my peers turn to media rather than doing their own research. Based on everything we learned so far we shouldn't rely on just media because it portrays 1 side depending on what you see.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace proposal that Trump's administration has suggested was created by American and Israeli diplomats without consultation from the Palestinians. The plan proposes a two-state solution with substantial financial support for the Palestinians. The plan has been criticized by many analysts for being biased, imposing unachievable conditions on Palestinian independence, and opening the door for Israeli annexation of the West Bank. The plan is instantly rejected by Palestinian authorities. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlines the plan to annex parts of the West Bank in accordance with Trump's proposal after it has been announced.

Resolution 181, which calls for the division of the Palestinian territories into two states—one Arab and one Jewish—is adopted by the UN General Assembly. Additionally, the resolution calls for Jerusalem to be governed by an international UN council. Since the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I in 1917, the Palestinian lands have been governed by the United Kingdom (known as a mandate) in both a military and administrative capacity. The Jewish and Arab populations in the Palestinian territories are experiencing increasing levels of civil unrest and bloodshed.
