2018 JEEP WRANGLER SB COMMERCIAL

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THIS COMMERCIAL?

ANY FALLACIES?

YES

YES

HERE WE SEE... APPEAL TO AUTHORITY (FAMOUS ACTOR INFLUENCE OF JOHN GOLDBLUM)

ANY OTHER FALLACIES?

YES

HASTY GENERALIZATION

Since Jeff can beat the dinosaur and make it scared of him, I can beat a dinosaur too with this car!!!

ANY OTHER FALLACIES?

WHY IT WAS EFFECTIVE?

How do we know this?

WHY IT WAS EFFECTIVE?

On a scale of 1-10 how effective was it?

With reminding the audience of the classic movie AND the classic car that came with it, this can prove to be very effective to influence the audience on which car they will buy based off of their love for the movie, Jurassic Park. Everyone wants to buy something that means something to them. ( a purpose, meaning, or background reason)

A 7 or an 8

10

I believe this because of the big influence movie stars have on the audience and feeling of wanting to be like them.

1

Yes!

Any Values, Beliefs or Perspectives?

Values

Values

A value that seems to be obvious in this commercial is the quality of the car and ability to do the best, even if that means out running a dinosaur.

Also another value may include the iconic and classic movie of Jurassic Park which we all remember from our childhood, applying this as a value in the commercial will create a trigger in your mind and travel back to this amazing movie, which a Jeep reminds you of.

Beliefs

Beliefs

Another possible belief could be that both the Jeep and Ian can still do what they do only better with more improvements/experience.

To me, there seems to be no personal beliefs, except the belief that this Jeep can outrun a Dinosaur

Perspectives

Perspectives

The so called "test drive" of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler seems to be a flashback of Ian Malcolm from the original Jurassic Park movie escaping the dinosaur in a much older Jeep. We then see a new jeep with the same older person in the flashback running away from a dinosaur. This experience is from Ian Malcom's (the character's) perspective.

This could possibly hint that in the upcoming sequal to the movie a newer Jeep will be involved in another iconic scene, possibly recreating the original one, and that Ian will have to face the challenge of driving awy from the beast once again.

What other strategies/devices are imployed to persuade the audience?

How Do We Know?

To be honest this is just a guess based off of observations in our world. Jeeps are very popular both in real life and in movies, they are reliably cool.

They are...

Possibly another strategy being used to persaude the audience that a Jeep is really THAT good is the strategy/fallacy of ad populum. Jeeps are very popular throughout the public which also could mean not only is the car awesome, but you could be too. You can also be awesome like Ian Malcom in Jurassic Park if you buy this car. The strategy of involving an actor that appeals.
