As the national capital, and by far the largest city, London was central to the British war effort. It was the favourite target of

the Luftwaffe in 1940,

and in 1944-45 the target of the rocket attacks.

Great Fire

2nd September 1666

London began to burn. The fire recognized as the largest

in the history of London, in a few days completely destroyed a large part of the city, which was then

the world power.
