Advantages and Disadvantages of Population Growth

ADVANTAGES

Economic Growth

Economic growth

Economic Growth

  • More parents investing into their youth.
  • Increase in purchases of homes, food, clothing, goods, edeucational purposes and many more.
  • As the parents have more kids, they purchase homes for their youth, which leads to a growing construction industry and overall the whole economy, which is growing and becoming stronger, due to these factors which are brought about with population growth.

The continuing cycle of the Industry

  • As we all know, population growth and economic development started with the industrial revolution.

  • Industrialization has historically led to urbanization by creating economic growth and job opportunities that draw people to cities.
  • Urbanization typically begins when a factory or multiple factories are established within a region, creating a high demand for factory labor.
  • These kids which are being fed, are going to once again feed back to their own children.

  • An example of economic growth caused by population growth is factory production working. As there is more people to work in the world, there is a lot of people that can work in the factory, which causes economic development as the production rate is higher.

Factory Working and the Industrial Revolution

Innovations

The Advancing World

  • The society moves forward only with these, and humanity seen as now has been created by these.

  • Every second there is a new head coming up with an idea, it may be small and unhelpful, or giant and excellent. You never know, Thomas Edison did not know everyone is going to use his idea in their own home.
  • As companies are growing and the population is growing, they need to find a way to improve their businesses or improve the world in which these people live in.
  • These include medical, industrial, agricultural innovations and many more.

The Cold War and Antibiotics

These two examples are a bit different. One is a time period of a lot of innovations made and the other one is an innovation. A giant step forward in the field of medicine, antibiotics saved millions of lives by killing and preventing the growth of harmful bacteria. Scientists like Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister were the first to recognize and attempt to combat bacteria, but it was Alexander Fleming who made the first leap in antibiotics when he accidentally discovered the bacteria-inhibiting mold known as penicillin in 1928. These major medicine improvers were a huge leap forwad for mankind overall. The Cold War was also one of the time periods in human history that changed the world. Innovations including weaponary, space innovations, vehicles and improvements in economy in general are very important for people now and that is why this is also a very important example of a period containing a lot of people innovating.

Examples

The Basics

Positive Effects and Development of the Culture or Other Ideas

Other Benefits

  • As the population of our planet keeps growing, it is almost certain that the human race is never going to fall extinct.
  • Population Growth also leads to new cultures, traditions, ideas, beliefs and more.
  • This can lead to migration and a better economy.
  • The economy is also growing because of this, not only improving or expanding.
  • Changes in beliefs are made every second.
  • The human race develops because of this.

DISADVANTAGES

Food and Land Shortages

Lack of resources and food or land shortages

Land Shortage

Lack of resources

  • As population incrases, so does the demand for the comfort and the needs of the human race.

  • The lack of vulnerable needs for life can lead to conflict and arguments or discomfort for the Homo Sapiens.

  • Having insufficient reasources and food, especially at a time of high population growth, can lead to poverty and conflict.

  • The crowding of people also brings about some problems.

Land Shortage

  • One of the problems the world is suffering is land demand and shortage.
  • The more people that live on the Earth, the more space is needed to fit them.
  • There is quite a small place to fit on for such a rapid increasing population.
  • The planet may become crowded and the small place that is supposed to be fitted in by people needs to expand, if the population want s to grow more, which is not possible, so it must stop growing.
  • If it grows beyond sustainability the environmental destruction can grow beyond healthy and our whole atmosphere and shrink to a horribel level, e.g. deforestation.

Resource Shortage

  • Food Shortage or other resources needed for life is now slowly turning into World Hunger or other worldwide problems and that all is cased by population growth.

  • As the fraction of the farm land or land in the world used for food production is beyond unsustainable and unacceptable ofr living without food shortage, many countries suffer and they can lead onto first stages of poverty.

  • As the food resources become to be limited, the demands of food in the future may increase and as there will be more people, it will have to increase.

More People

Pollution and Poverty

  • As the population increases, so do problems.
  • The demands of humanity may cause these problems and they need to be fixed, as they are disadvantages.
  • More people result in new viruses, diseases, needs of resources and food, conflict, riot and poverty.
  • This can also lead to lack of jobs and the spreading of less developed countries around the world.

Pollution

  • More people create more pollution and damage the envionment as almost all transport vehicles emit greenhouse gases, buying plastic and other harmful materials for the atmosphere when thrown away.
  • The whole point is that as there are more people, there is going to be more waste and landfill.
  • Also, air pollution will increase as the demand from the greater amount of people will again increase and it will nedd to fasten the production, there will be more people damaging the environment.
  • In countries that are generally poorer there are less people that pay taxes which may make the country have less money.
  • The supply limits go up and the prices go up, demands for products and services increase.
  • The demand for labour decreases, but the people do not work as they consider innovation more important, this creates poverty as there is not many people working.
  • In poor societes, there is less monez for education, which means that people have less time to innovate or consider learning about medicine or researching into things like Antibioitics.
  • This can also create a massive gap between the two types of civilisations-the povert suffering and the normal and developed coutries-competition and chaos.
  • If this gap would increase, it could lead onto corruption and conflict

Poverty

Africa

  • In Africa, poverty is one of the main things making them poorer.
  • Most of its land was colonised by a country of the British Empire(or some other one) and it was heavily influenced by that, resulting in having problems like this now.
  • They were also put through slavery.
  • Even though poverty is a major issue in their country because of these factors, another very important one is the fact that population growth has caused it. As it is a less developed continent overall, the need of youth had increased and the death rates had increased too, this may have too caused poverty.

Conflict or War

Increase in Crime

  • With Population growth there also comes crime increase. As there is more people, there is a higher chance that someone will commit a crime.
  • The lack of food or resources may also increase the crime rate.
  • Fights can turn into crimes.
  • There will be higher demand for crimes.
  • There is a higher chance of the more eople that have mental illness can commit a crime.

More conflict

  • Arguents and disagreements are more likely if there are more people, as they may have different opinions.
  • These can turn into big conflicts or even war.
  • It would be almost impossible to keep away from a riot or be in pece with such a number of people.

WWII

World War 2 is an example of a huge conflict created because of land demand and resource demand, or overall population growth.

This created quite a problem in history as there was a hue downforce on the economy as a lot of casualties had been put onto each participating countries' side.

On the other hand this forced the countries to start developing and innovating or recovering, however, that period of recover was long enough for the fact to consider it as a conflict and disadvantage created by population growth.
