Infancy

Trust vs. Mistrust

What

Happens

Children develop a sense of trust when caregivers provide reliability, care, and affection. A lack

of this will lead to mistrust.

Even though I wasn't yet born because it occurred a month and 2 days before I was born. I do remember that my mom was stressing out so much she told me she was going to the hospital for safety for the both of us

Early Childhood

Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubts

What Happens

Children need to develop a sense of personal control over physical skills and a sense of

independence. Success leads to feelings of autonomy, failure results in feelings of shame and

doubt.

Experience

All that I remember is that at age 2 I moved from Tampa FL to northern Jersey and I've lived in Jersey ever since

Preschool

3 to 5 years

Initiative vs. Guilt

What Happens

Children need to begin asserting control and power over the environment. Success leads to a

sense of purpose. Children who try to exert too much power experience disapproval, resulting in

a sense of guilt.

I didn't start preschool till I was 6 because my birthday fell a month after the cut off date to start school

Experience

Industry vs. Inferiority

competence, while failure results in feelings of inferiority.

Identity vs. Role Confusion

Adolescence

(12 to 18 years)

What Happens

Teens needs to develop a sense of self and personal identity. Success leads to an ability to stay true to yourself, while failure leads to role confusion and a weak sense of self.

People have told me that I'm a boy even though I look like a girl. They have said I act like a guy. Sometimes I feel like a guy and I honestly I kinda take it as a complement. Everyday I try to figure out who I am. I guess you could say I'm a tomboy.
