AGENDA

What was the original task?

AGENDA

How can we, as the Student Council choose 5 restaurants for the food court so that the student council has enough money to pay for activities as well as supply the diverse student body with quality, delicious food.

Key Aspects of the Decision

Key Aspects

Meet the needs of the student body

Economically beneficial

Approval by the school board

Student Body

  • Offer a variety of food choices to meet the diverse body
  • Healthy options
  • Give a oppotunityto work and gain valuable life skills
  • Encourages students to be involved in social life

Profit Maximization

  • Choose restraunts that have a good balance between econimocally beneficial as well as beneficial to the student body
  • Be able to make enough money to support school events and activities
  • Make enough money to enrich the school for students

Apporval by the school board

  • Balance the wants and the needs of Dr. Calderon, Mr. Cash, Mr./Ms. Muir, and Mrs. Stavinsky
  • Impress all of the members of the school board as to get our proposal approved

Our Choices

The following will describe what decsions we have made on restaurants:

OUR CHOICES

Taco Villa

A very economically sane and nutritionally balanced choice for our food court

Taco Villa

Reasoning

Although not necessarily healthiest lunch option, Taco Villas provides well rounded meals with meats, vegetables, and energizing carbohydrates.

Reasoning

  • Profits for Student Council: At $1.50 for a meal, $135 of daily profit, $135 * 180 days of school = $24,300.
  • That results in $4860 for Student Council.

Wildcat's Den

Wildcat's Den

As Mr. Marcus Cash has brought to our attention, it is a pressing issue to have nutritious foods for students with unstable socioeconomic statuses

Reasoning

While Wildcat's Den will not provide Student Council with any profits, it benefits the large portion of our student body involved in the School-to-Work-Program.

Wildcat Den's reasonable prices also allow for financially underpriveldged students to purchase a healthly meal without spending excessive amounts of money.

  • Meals are $2.00 each, totalling $14.40 in daily profits.
  • $14.40 * 180 = $2592 in annual profits returned to offer more courses in the school to work program.

Veggie Vittles

Veggie sandwiches are a perfect option for those students looking to eat vegeterian and maintain a meat free diet.

Veggie Vittles

Reasoning

As the Vital Vegetarians have requested, Stundent Council will include Veggie Vittles to accomodate for our vegetarian students.

Reasoning 1

Reasoning 2

Reasoning 2

Veggie Vittles does not have a significant profit that benefits Student Council, but having it in our food court promotes inclusion of all parts of the student body.

Profits allocated to Student Council will be $162

Bennie's

To ensure that Student Council has the finances for special events throughout the year, we have selected the exceptionally profitable Bennie's for the food court.

Bennie's

Reasoning 1

Reasoning 1

Bennie's has shown to be incredibly profitable in the food court. Bennie's max profit price is a reasonable price relative to other restaurants making it accessible to all students. For this reason, it makes for an great choice in the food court.

Hamburgers sold at $2.50, computes $100.00 in daily profit.

$100 * 180 = $18,000

18,000 * 20% = $3600 for student council

Reasoning 2

Reasoning 2

At first glance Bennie's hamburgers may seem like a cheap burger joint, but its nationwide popularity, and marketability amongst high schoolers makes it a great choice for Oak Grove's food court.

Borscht Palace

Per Mrs. Stravinsky's request, we have chosen to include the Borscht Palace in our food courts restaurants.

The student body immensely appreciates the Stravinsky family's continued support of Oak Grove High School!

Borscht

Palace

NEXT STEPS

It is important to understand what the restaurant choices as a whole means for Student Council and the entirety of the school.

NEXT STEPS

Total Profits

Step 1

Summing all calculations, the total annual amount allocated to Student Council is:

$8622

This amount will be what Student Council has to use for school activities including dances, social events, and school theme days.

Step 2

It is important to remember that although we have chosen a very wide range of lunch options, no student is discouraged from bringing their own lunch to school if they so choose.

Step 2

Lastly...

Step 3

Student Council looks forward to working with school board to make Oak Grove High School's food court an exemplary space where student's can enjoy healthy, delicious lunches for years to come.
