Vocational Training
> Sindh and Embroidery
Ralli: traditional craft patchwork and embroidery made originally by the women of Sindh. Driven by the cultural symbols of the village, it has been passed down for generations.
Ajrak: block-printed cloth with typically crimson and indigo hues, symmetrical patterns and sparkling motifs. Ajrak is used as a show of respect and a token of solidarity for the Sindh province.
Importance of vocational training in Sindh
In 2018 Sindh passed the Home-Based Workers Act, making Pakistan the only country in South Asia where home workers were recognised as official labourers empowering women economically. The informal workforce of 3 million people in Sindh also majorly consisted of women.
> Funding, Revenue streams and alliance partners
The main textile areas in Pakistan are located in three cities of Faisalabad, Karachi and Lahore. There are about 900 embroidery companies with 80 percent exporting overseas. The scope of artisan embroidery business is high in Pakistan
