I hope everybody is fine. Don't be like the cat, do some exercise
- Past Simple: when?
- Past Simple verb "to be"
- There was/There were
- Past Simple regular verbs
We use Past Simple to talk about finished past events/actions/habits/etc.
Ex: I was bored
(I am not bored anymore, now I'm entertained)
Remember that the verb to be in present is translated in Catalan as "ser/estar"
When we want to use the verb "to be" we are going to write "was" or "were", depending on the subject
Yes, I was/ No, I wasn't
Yes, you were/ No, you weren't
Yes, she was/ No, she wasn't
Yes, we were/ No, we weren't
*Don't confuse "were" (past of the verb to be) with "where" (question pronoun)
-Maria was blond
- We were late
- They were tired
- I wasn't at home
- You weren't on time
- Were you at school yesterday? Yes, I was
Here, you can see the difference between the present and the past simple form of the verb "to be"
"There was/there were" are the past simple forms of "there is/there are"
In Catalan, we translate them as "hi havia". Ex:
-There was a fly in my room
-There were 3 kids in the party
There was -- singular
There were -- plural
Regular verbs are those which past form is formed by adding -ed or -d
Ex: To walk
As you can see, it's the same for all the subjects
