What is the VARK Inventory?

The Vark is a sixteen item questionnaire that attempts to discover how learners prefer to use their senses. The VARK separates the senses into four major categories....

Visual

Visual learners prefer to learn information through such things as charts, graphs, photos, and other visual means.

Visual Aids

Aural

Aural learners are those who prefer to hear information. They benefit tremendously from lecturs on a topic.

A

Read/Write

Read/write learners are those who prefer to learn information that is displayed as words, whatever external form that may take.

R

Reading

The primary method of study for this kind of learner is reading a book.

Kinesthetic learners prefer to learn through experience and practice, whether stimulated or real.

Now that we know that the VARK Inventory is, and what classifications you can be put into, it's time to look at ways that people in each of those categories can improve their learning abilities.

Tips for Visual Learners

Visual learners will do best if they attempt to study in a way that triggers their visual senses. Fortunately, there are several different ways to do this. Today we'll be looking at four of those.

Aural

Aural learners have to get pretty creative. They have to discover ways that enable them to hear the information that they are trying to learn. Fortunately there are actually several different ways to accomplish that.

The people who learn like this can use a much more classical style of study. Much of their study will simply be taking notes and reading a textbook, however there are still several ways they can improve their study.

Kinesthetic

Kinesthetic learners, as I mentioned earlier, learn best through experience and practice. The methods to improve their study focus on those aspects to help them significantly.
