His Early Life
Khufu was born around 2609 BC in Ancient Egypt. Khufu was the son of the Queen Heterpheres and King Snefru, who was the founder of the fourth dynasty. He was the immediate successor to his father. Khufu took the throne at 2589 BC at around the age of 20.
Rise to Power
Kufu came to power after his father, King Snefru died. Khufu was only in his 20's and was the second pharoah in his dynasty. Once he bcame pharoah he immediately started work on the pyramids. Khufu's pyramids would be the first ones built in Giza.
Success/Failure
Khufu was pharoah for an estimated 23 years. He is known for perhaps the most famous pyramids in Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Giza. The pyramid took around 23 long years to build. Around 2.3 million blocks of stone were used that each weigh almost 2.5 tons each. Unlike other pharoahs Kufu did not use slave labor, he instead used conscripted labor. Khufu also led millitary raids on Nubia and Lybia.
All in all, Khufu reigned for around 24 years. He is mostly remembered for building the pyramid of Giza, but many people look at his badly today because the Greeks portrayed him badly. After he died his son became pharoah. His son built the famous Sphinx in memory of his dad and many even say it looks like Khufu.
