2006

When I Was Born

On June 28th, 2006, my mom gave birth to her favorite child... me. This was caused by love shared between my mom and my dad. Due to my birth, I have had to grow up and experience different factors of life as I did. I had to learn basic human skills which affected my interactions with surrounding objects and people. I grew up with a family that I had to build relationships with. When I was born, the doctor that was assisting with the delivery told my mom that I had 2 knots in my umbilical cord. Along with that fun fact, he said that I shouldn't be here due to the 2 knots.

2010

Parent Divorcing

I was only a kid when my parents seperated from one another in 2010. Since I was so young I did not understand what was going on, but when I got to an older age my mom discussed the seperation with me. I grew up afraid of my dad due to the temper he displayed when I child. This is obviously an impactful event for kids, no matter the age. As a consequence of the divorce, me and my siblings were living with each of our parents 50/50. Throughout the 10 years, the schedule changed of when we spent time with our parents. Holidays were different though, because each parent had "their holiday." Recently me and my siblibngs gained primary custody with my mom which I am very happy with.

2008

Getting A Sister

2 years after I was born, my mom had the final child in our family. Madelyn and I have built a unique bond over the years which we still have to this day. When we were little, I used to try on her dressses and play barbies with her. Although we don't do those activities anymore, we found other things to do that we enjoy doing together. Not to mention that we also share a lot of the same interests and taste in music. I cherish the relationship I have with her even when it is rocky.

2007

Water In My Ears

When I was around 1 year old, the doctors noticed an excessive amount of fluids within my ears. There really wasn't an explanation for how this had happended. At 2 or 3 years old I began to speak, but I wasn't speaking properly; I was just making noises because that is all I heard. This was because the fluids in my ears were blocking my hearing so I couldn't make out what others were saying. So the next best step was to sign me up for speech therapy at Whittier. I attended the speech classes for about a year until I switched to attending speech classes at KTEC, which is where I was going to school. I finished up my speech therpy and am able to talk, although I might have a speech impediment.

Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour

Planning suprirses and keeping it a secret has always been my mom's favorite. Sometimes the surprises are concerts. One of my favorite concerts that I went to with my mom was the Taylor Swift Reputation Tour in Chicago. My mom got the tickets for me and my sister because Taylor is one of our favorite artists. Due to the amazing performance, it became one of the most memorable concerts that I have ever attended. Reputation also became one of my favorite albums that she has released.

California Road Trip

One of my favorite things about my mom is how good she is at planning vacations. This trip was planned by my mom (obviously) along with our friend Fiona. Little summary about Fiona, we met her because she was really good friends with my oldest brother and they met through theater. My siblings and I hung out with her and got really close with her. Anyways Fiona was going to California because she was attending college there. Her and my mom thought of a plan, which was to drive down to California and drop her off at the place where she would be staying, as well as stopping along the way to see different sights. In summary, it was one of the best and most memorable trips I have ever went on even though it was very hard to say goodbye to Fiona.

2011

KYPAC

KYPAC is a theatrical organization that takes at Bradford, at least when I used to do it. KYPAC gives children the oppurtunity to experience being in a play before High School KUSD shows. I began my journey with KYPAC as early as 2011 and although I don't remeber my first few shows, being in countless productions carved an interest of theatre into my brain. I also shared an interest in theatre because my oldest brother was involved in theatre. Being in KYPAC inspired me to continue to do shows throughout High School.

2017

First Cruise

Cruises are one of the most controversial vacations, because some people love going on them and other people are terrified to go on one. My mom took my siblinsg and I on our first every cruise, which was a Carnival Cruise. Technically, my first cruise was when I was super young so I am not going to count that. I don't know what made my mom decide to plan a cruise, but I am glad she did because it was such a fun experience. My mom planned 3 other cruises after that one, and all of them better than the previous one. The most recent cruise we went on was so amazing! My favorite are that we stopped at was Amber Cove. The view was just absoultely breathtaking. I look forward to going on cruises with my mom when im in my 40's.

Being A Festival Foods Employee

For most jobs, the youngest you can be to work is 16 years old. A few places allow 14 year olds to work there however. One of those places is Festival Foods, which is where I began working at 14 years old. The application process started when my mom made my brother and I do this youth job fair thing. I don't remeber how it worked but I clicked on Festival's page which ended up making me talk to a lady who I'm pretty sure was HR. My mom had a friend who was wokring at Festival who put in a good word for me. Long story short I was hired at Festival Foods. It ws my first job and I was very happy to start making my own money. From that job I was able to make about 2,500 dollars as well as getting my first experience in working in customer service. I worked there for about a year and 2 months before I left and began working somewhere else.

2022

Being A Starbucks Employee

Starbucks is one of the most popular coffee companies around the globe. After working at Festival Foods for about a year, I started to look for other possible jobs since I would be turning 16. I had my eyes on the Starbuks that was in Target since my mom has been working at Target for over 10 years. Once I turned 16, I debated on if I want to leave that month or leave once school starts. 2 months passed and I decided to apply in August. My mom helped me get the job and I started on August 8th. I had to learn a lot since Starbucks has so many drinks and people customize the drinks all the time. I like my co-workeres which makes my job a little bit easier. I'm also getting $3.50 more than I was getting paid at Festival which is definitely a bonus.

Being A Vegeterian

Bacon and beef are the 0nly meat I actually miss and liked. On December 1st of 2020, I made the decision of changing my diet into a vegeterian diet. There were a couple thing that influenced this decision. Back when my brother was dating a girl name Emmy, I learned that her and her dad were vegeterian. One of my familys friends was also vegeterian at the time. I decided I would try it since I didn't really eat a whole lot of meat as it was. Ever since I made the decision, the most signifcant change was losing a lot of weight. The downside is that when I accidentally have meat. my stomach does not agree with it because it is not used to it. I also have to ingest more protein. This year marks the 2 year anniversay of switching my diet. I wil most likely stick to the diet as I get older.

2018

Meeting Susan

My mom has many friends and connections from all over the place. One of my moms friends that I know very well is named Susan. Susan has been doing cosmetology for a long time. I have always expressed an interest in hairdressing because I used to play with my moms hair when I was little. She is very important to me because she helped me figure out the first steps to getting involved in cosmetology. Ever since I met Susan, she has given me a small starter kit for hairdressing, she has let me watch her dye a clien'ts hair, she has shared the idea of doing the cosmetology program at Gateway and a lot more. I am very grateful that I met Susan, even though I don't remeber the exact date of when I did.

2022

Gateway

In one of my 20 events, I stated that my mom has numerous connections. Through some of them, she found out that Gateway was having this open house for the cosmetology program where you could go and learn about what they teach and what you could do to get some experience. Me and my mom decided to go and see what it was about since I was thinking of going into cosmetology as a career. I am very glad I decided to go because it was a huge eye opener for me. The lady assiting was vey nice and very persuasive. I'm going to try to attend the cosmetology class this year and hopefully make a career out of it.

First Year At Harborside

Noramlly in order to get into Harborisde you have to win a spot from a lottery of some kind. However if you have an older siblings that already goes to Harboride, you automatically get in. In my case, my oldest brother was attending Harborside so when it was time for me to enter high school, I decided to go to Harborside. I liked that Harborside was a smaller school compared to all the other schools, which helped my decision. I'm glad I went to this school, because I met 3 of my bestest friends there. I love having classes with them because they make them so much better.

2011

Cocoa's Passing

One of my favorite sayings is "A dog is a mans best friend." I am a huge dog lover because they are so cute and bring me joy. In 2011 My mom was able to get a black lab named Star from a family we knew through school. Me and my siblings were thrilled to get another dog! After a collective agreement, my family decided to rename her Cocoa. Cocoa was with us for a long time before she recently developed a tumor. As a result of the tumor, we had to put her down. I was very depressed because I loved her so much and it was a very hard goodbye for me and my family. I began to spend more time with my other dog, Mocha, since she was not herself. I had to witness my dog practically starve herself as well as staying in her cage for hours which was truly heartbreaking.

2012

Prince

My mom has always been a big user of Facebook, posting countless pictures of me and my siblings. One day, she made a post on Facebook about a band stating that she likes them. She recevied a comment from a guy saying that he always wanted to see the band. They began to talk back and forth over Facebook and finally in 2012 they met in person. Me and my siblings also got to meet him for the first time, and I instanaly connected with him. I have seen him as a father figure for 10 years because he has always cared for us. The man is Syed Haque, or formally known as Prince. He filled the holes that my dad left. I love him so much.

2022

Receiving A Car

Getting your license is one of the most memorable moments as well as one of the most anticipated moments. A couple months before I got my license, I had the pleasure of receiving a car as a gift from Prince this year. He bought a used car and instead of selling it, he was very thoughtful and generous enough to gift it to me. Since I had my own car along with a license, I was able to drive freely and also drive my friends around. I now drive my sister and I to school everyday. I am grateful that Prince gifted me his car; it has opened up more oppurtunities for me.

2019

Jaedon's Passing

Life is not always easy. Depression is a very serious thing which needs to be talked about more. Jaedon Bain was my oldest brother. He struggled with a lot of depression and became suicidal. June 29th, 2019, turned into the worst day of my life when he took his own life. His death impacted so many people because he made everyone around him happy. My family held a celebration of life ceremony, a gathering at a theatre in memory of him, and a candle lighting. People have been very supportive to my family and Jaedon has received tons of love. We are still impacted by his passing to this day. He is missed by so many people and is always remebered.

2020

Jaedon Special

Dunkin Donuts is a coffee shop with multiple stores across the country. My oldest borther, Jaedon used to get this specific drink from Dunkin everytime he went, which was a Carmel Iced Coffee with Cream and Liquid Sugar. The drink became popular around 2019-2020 (I don't recall the exact time) within my family and select friends and we dubbed the drink "The Jaedon Special." Now everytime I go to Dunkin Donuts, I order this drink because it is very tasty and it has a special meaning.

2006

My Mom

From the day I was born, my mom and I shared a special connection. She has always done the best she could for me and my siblings. She was the one who took took us to school, encouraged us to do activities, took us on vacations, made us laugh, raise us, helped us and so much more. Having a good relationship with my mom is something that I cherish, since not all moms are great. I could never image having a bad mom because mine is perfect in every way. I became a lot closer with my mom over the last couple of years because I realized all the things she gave up just to raise my siblings and how little my dad did. She is one of the most caring people you will ever meet and she has raised awareness for suicide prevention. She has helped me through my phases of depression Most people think its cringe to be a "mommys boy" but I'm not embarrased to have such a special relationship with my mom. I am very thankful for her and I appreciate everything she has done for me. I would not be in the same place as a I am right now if not for her. I love her so much.
