Trail and Aftermath

Graham Young

7 September 1947 - 1 August 1990

  • Graham was arrested on November 21, 1971 and the trail began on June 19, 1972.
  • He was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of administering poison. Resulting in four life sentences.
  • Graham spent the rest of his life in prison until be poisoned himself.

Poisoning His Family

  • Graham Young grew up living with his Aunt and when seperate it caused great distress.
  • When he was old enough to read he become fans of Dr. Crippen ( an infamous poisoner) and also developed a fascination with Adolf Hitler.
  • Academically, Graham was only interested in chemistry, forensic science and taxicology.
  • By the age of 13, he was able to convince chemists that he was 17 due to his extensive knowlege in order to buy thallium.

  • Graham initially started poisoning his family in early 1961 when he'd make them all ill on multiple times but would also poison himself to avoid suspicion.
  • On April 21, 1962 his stepmother was found in agony and died later that night from antimony poisoning.
  • His father then got poisoning however survived.

Later Crimes

Graham was arrestst at 14 years old for min 15 years. However within weeks on him being there, his inmate John Berridge was murdered by cyanide poisoning although the death got officially recorded as suicide. During this time he would also poison officers drinks.

When Graham was released in 1971, he found work as a store man at John Hadland Laboratories. He would regularly make peoples drinks in order to poison his workers and make them unwell.

Bob Egle was his boss and targeted for poisoning until he died on July 7, 1971, supposedly from pneumonia.

On November 19, 1971 another colleague died from what was discovered to be thallium poisoning
