- Misty Danielle Copeland was born in Missouri on September 10,1982.
- Misty lived with her mother, two sisters and two brothers.
- Misty was three when she moved to California.

- Misty went to Point Fermin Elementary School.
- When Misty was 7 she saw the film
"Nadia" about Nadia Comăneci.
- Nadia was a five time gold medalist in Olympic gymnastics. She became Misty's new role model.

- In September of 2000 Misty
- joined the American Ballet Theater (ABT) Studio Company .
- Eight months after Misty joined the studio she had performed Sleep Beauty and three other dances.
- Misty joined the corps de ballet in 2001
- Misty was in commercials for T-Mobile, Dr.Pepper and Under Armour.
In 2015 Misty became the
first African American principal ballerina at ABT and is still there at age 36.
