Ashwagandha
Introduction
Ashwagandha is a hardy medicinal plant that thrives in dry, arid, and subtropical regions, making it suitable for a variety of climates.
Planting Material & Sowing Time
Seed: Propagation is done primarily through seeds, with about 5-6 kg of seeds required per acre.
Sowing Time: There are two main planting seasons: at the beginning of the monsoon (June-July) and post-monsoon (September-November).
Yield
The average yield is 5-6 quintals of dry roots per acre, depending on cultivation practices and soil conditions.
Crop Economics for 1 Acre
Cost of Cultivation: Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 per acre.
Dry Root Yield: 500 to 600 kg.

Chamomile
Introduction
Chamomile, also known as 'Babunah,' is an easy-to-grow plant with various medicinal properties. It is used as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, mild astringent, and healing agent. Chamomile is also popular for making herbal tea.
Planting Material & Sowing Time
Seed: Propagation is primarily done through seeds. Both direct sowing and nursery raising methods are practiced.
Nursery : Requires 500 grams of seeds.
Direct Sowing: Requires 1.0 – 1.5 kg of seeds.
Sowing Time: Seeds are sown in October, and transplanting is done in November.
Yield
The average yield of dried flowers is 4-6 quintals per acre.
Crop Economics for 1 Acre
Dry Flower Yield: 400 to 600 kg.
Current Market Rate: Rs. 225 per kg.

Introduction
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is a hybrid mint species known for its aromatic and medicinal properties. It is a non-grazing crop that requires frequent but light irrigation to thrive.

The average yield is around 100-120 kg of dried herbs per acre.

Patchouli
Introduction
Patchouli (Pogostemon patchouli) is a branched, erect, perennial aromatic herb characterized by its quadrangular stems and leaves covered with trichomes that contain essential oil. The oil is extracted through steam distillation of shade-dried leaves.
Patchouli thrives under partial shade in orchards with trees like mango, guava, papaya, areca nut, amla, and arjun. The crop is non-grazing and requires minimal maintenance. The main crop production increases to 15-20%
Planting Time
Patchouli can be planted any time of the year, except during the hot months of April, and May. Once established, the plants produce a good yield of leaves for up to three years.

Nagarmotha
Introduction
Nagarmotha (scientifically known as Cyperus rotundus or nut grass) packs some strong healing properties. For ages, people have used the sweet-smelling tuber-like parts that grow under the soil (called rhizomes) of this plant to treat tummy troubles, fevers, infections, and more.
Nagarmotha, also known as nutgrass, is typically harvested when its rhizomes are mature, which is usually after 8–12 months of growth. The roots and rhizomes are harvested from Oct to June.

Home Nutrition Kitchen Garden Model: Semina Agro by TATA Coffee Ltd has been invited to share its innovative Home Nutrition Kitchen Garden Model with its dedicated workers. With almost 7000 hectares of plantations in the region and nearly 10 thousand staff members, this initiative aims to enhance the well-being of the workforce.
Nutritional Garden Pilot Project: Tata Coffee has launched a pilot project for a Nutritional Garden for its staff. This garden not only focuses on providing essential nutrition but also introduces the concept of aromatic crops as an inter-crop into their coffee state. Success in this venture will lead to scaling up this sustainable and aromatic initiative.

Jindal Steel Plant Pioneers Sustainable Farming Initiatives Through CSR Project technical support by Semina Agro.
The Salboni Jindal Steel Plant has taken a bold step towards fostering sustainable development and supporting local agriculture with the launch of a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project centered around farming in the surrounding community.
Semina Agro Pvt Ltd., a Ranchi-based social enterprise, is playing a pivotal role in technically supporting the farming initiatives. The enterprise ensures market-driven crops with a guaranteed buyback, providing economic assurance to local farmers. Additionally, an adjacent area of the plant has been dedicated to a school kitchen garden, reinforcing the commitment to holistic community development.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable practices, the steel plant has initiated a multi-faceted project aimed at transforming local agriculture. The key components of this endeavor include the establishment of community vegetable gardens, the distribution of farming tools and materials, training programs for farmers on sustainable practices, and the creation of a market for locally grown produce.
Through these initiatives, the Salboni Jindal Steel Plant is making a positive impact on the local community, not only by supporting sustainable agriculture but also by contributing to the overall well-being and resilience of the region. The project reflects the plant's dedication to a more sustainable future, embodying the principles of responsible corporate citizenship.
