Truman's ordinary world is not ordinary to us. His whole life he has been living in a T.V. show. When he was a baby he was adopted by Christof, a television creator. Chirstof created a show around Truman's life. Truman lived on a set, surrounded by actors and he had no idea. Every situation that he had ever been in had been fake. He didn't have parents, or friends or any family really.
Truman was taught to have a very strict routine that he must do. He wakes up says the same thing to a camera at the same time everyday.

Truman has no idea that old lady's watch him everyday, and have pillows with his face on it. Everyone watches him. His show is on 24 hours a day and that's all anyone watches. Truman really has no privacy and he has no idea.

I think that Trumans "Call to Adventure" is when he starts to realize that stuff around him isn't real. He starts to notice things that don't seem normal. People are changing, things are falling from the sky, and he realizes that when people talk about things it sounds like a comercial.

When Truman enters the unknown, he realizes that everything is fake. His girlfriend from the "real world," Lauren, tells him about the show then he has a paradigm shift. He suddenly finds himself wondering what's real and what's fake, and how he could live a normal life in the real world.

Truman's instincts help him discover the truth about the world he is living in. Everything in this world is controlled except for his true feelings. That means that ultimately he is the only person that could guide him through his journey.

The main helper in the story is Lauren, his girlfriend from the real world. She was the one who told him that his world is fake and that there is a way to the outside world.

Christof, the director, is telling everyone in this "world" what to do in order to get Truman to stop investigating anomalies. They are also doing everything to prevent him from getting to the edge of the dome.

The director had fake forest fires that he drove through trying to leave, chemical spills and storms on the water, they even tried to kill him while he was on a boat trying to get to Fiji to see Lauren.

Yet again Lauren fits into another category. Originally Lauren was an actor on the show. She was on Christofs team. Over time she developed real feelings for Truman and decided that he needed to know the truth. She even created groups in the real world, after she got kicked off the show, trying to get Truman to see the truth.

The supreme ordeal is when Truman is on the boat trying to get away from the Island. The director knows that he is scared of water because his dad drowned in front of him as a kid, so he created a storm so that Truman would turn around. But Truman didn't let that stop him. He kept going until he reached the steps to the door that lead outside.

His reward is that he gets to go outside and try to live a normal life, and he gets to be with the person that he loves. His journey home isn't back to the Island; it is back to the real world where he can go on to learn things about society and life that he wouldn't have in the show.

The world has changed because now that the show is over people aren't sitting watching someone else's fake life 24 hours a day. Truman learned to trust his instincts and that he has the strength overcome his fears.

This movie teaches us to value our life and the lives of others. It also teaches us to appreciate empathy, and that it is wrong to treat a human as a prop in a game for your amusement.
