Case Vignette

Robert is a 27 year old caucasian male who is married. He has no children but wants to some day. His substance dependence begin when he went to college. He begin drinking at 18 where he believed it was just "social drinking". His father use to drink everyday and his mother would have a glass a wine occassionally. Robert witnessed his parents arguing and fighting when his father is usually drinking, He is currently he is still battling alcoholism and he has been recently diagnosis with depression. He says because of drinking he has lost his job and he has been arguing with his wife frequently. He expressed he has had no success with inpatient programs where he could not substain abstinence and AA has not been helpful.

Support System

Robert's wife would be his biggest support with treatment. Since they are having martial difficulties it would be beneficial to have his wife there to help with treatment.
