1. enter the domain name in your browser then your computer will contact the configured *isp nameservers asking for the ip address of the domain you are looking for.

2. if your isp **nameserver has the info on the ip address it will tell your computer asap if not it will ask the dns

3. If DNS does not have the ip address it will ask for help from the root nameserver

4. root nameserver willtell your computer the nameserver (primary) and the authoritative nameserver (secondary)

5. after having this data your isp nameserver will have the ip address you are looking for

6. You can now enyoy the content of the domain

**server on the internet specialized in handling queries regarding the location of a domain name.

• To use Mobidea’s Tracker, Affiliates require their own domain, and also the access to modify/configure the DNS of the Registrar (entity that manages Internet name domains)

• The reason access to configuration is required is because Mobidea will provide the Nameservers that must be used point to our servers - to redirect the end user’s actions and data i.e. click ID

• Mobidea’s platform will then automatically verify the DNS - meaning our system will replicate the end user experience to obtain an accurate response; and for the domain to redirect data to our servers (of course according to the configuration done previously)

• That is why is super important to verify the DNS, to make sure the nameservers are properly configured and working. Otherwise affiliates would not obtain the data they require to optimize their campaigns.

If a domain is already registered, an error will be displayed

If the platform indicates domain’s DNS was not possible:

• Ask affiliate to make sure the URL used is correct (typos?)
• Have the nameservers been updated as required?
• Sometimes verification can take longer (~1h), but affiliate should receive an email notification from Mobidea once process is completed
• Try forcing the verification; refresh (F5) then click on Verify DNS
• Maybe TTL value could be lowered to 1 min to help the verification be more quick - yet advice the affiliate to increase the TTL value afterwards
• HAVE YOU ASKED THE AFF IF HE'S USING A *C NAME? .....

A Canonical Name record is a type of resource record in the (DNS) used to specify that a domain name is an alias for another ONE, which is the "canonical" domain.

In case you are setting a CNAME on an older domain in Mobidea, keep an eye out for the TTL (time to live) settings. This means that your subdomain and CNAME may take a little longer to propagate.
