  • He is recognizing his increase in intelligence. He's also starting to learn more languages, history, geography and arithmetics.

  • Charlie redoes the Rorschach Test, which he now realizes is the inkblot test he did before. Charlie is actually scared of the test, but now realizes what it is for
  • The test causes him to lose some trust in the doctor due to suspecting him of making fun of him.

  • Charlie uses his intelligence to help out at work, but it causes those around him to be frightened of his new intelligence.
  • He doesn't talk to other much anymore.

  • Charlie invites Ms. Kinnian to dinner so he could celebrate his promotion.
  • The two doctors are arguing quite a bit. They blame each other for things and accuse each other of taking credit for the experiment.

  • Charlie realizes how beautiful Ms. Kinnian is. He has dinner with her and talks about his intelligence. Ms. Kinnian says he has surpassed her already, but he claims that he doesn't feel intelligent at all.
  • Ms. Kinnian hopes the experiment will be permanent, and Charlie realizes he is in love with Ms. Kinnian.

  • Charlie quits his job at the factory. The other workers had requested him to do so since they became scared of him due to his intelligence.
  • Charlie feels as if his intelligence has separated him from those around him.

  • Charlie is being payed by the lab. He has not been writing reports due to how slow it is and has instead been thinking and reading.
  • Algernon and Charlie have been presented to the World Psychological Association, and Charlie has begun to criticize the two doctor's intelligence. This has caused Dr. Nemur to have an inferiority complex.

  • Charlie is disturbed at his inability to communicate properly with normal people. He attempted to talk to Ms. Kinnian about basic things, but started explaining a mathematical variance.
  • Charlie spends his time reading and doesn't talk to others much.

  • Charlie laughs at a mentally retarded child in a restaurant. He laughs alongside everyone else, but he soon becomes disgusted after the child reminds him of himself. He lashes out at everyone else and leaves, as he reminisces about his old life.
  • Charlie decides to start working on a method to help those like the boy gain the intelligence they deserve.
