Poutine - Canada

Quesadilla - Mexico

My brother worked in a Mexican restauraunt and really enjoyed making this dish, so he began making it at home too, and it's now a regular part of our cuisine. It's easy to make and quite different from our usual food.

I was a first generation immigrant, and I grew up with a lot of Canadian cuisine. because of howyoung I was. I remember trying poutine at a local restauraunt and falling in love with it, then I asked my mom to make it for me everyday for breakfast. It's now the most common breakfast item my family makes.

Chicken Shawarma - Turkey

Lasagna - Italy

As an Islamic family, we get a lot of inspiration from Middle Eastern cuisine. My mom learned this recipe from her grandmother, who found it in a local cookbook. There's many different ways to make this and a wide variety of toppings we loved experimenting with, and t is now a favourite quick meal when we want something to eat on the go.

My aunt visited Italy and loved the lasagna there, so she began to implement it into her cooking while adding her own personal touch. The rest of our family soon followed suit. It's a classic recipe for when we want a change from our usual South Asian cuisine, so it works as a sort of pallete cleanser.

Seekh Kebabs - Iran

Aloo Gosht - India

This is a big comfort food in Pakistan and India and has been around for a long time! My grandparents learnt it from their parents, etc. They would always make it to cheer us up.

My dad's side of the family has Persian blood, and my paternal grandparents would often cook this whenever we went over on their barbeque, and they taught us how to make it too. In the Middle East, seekj jebabs are popular street food eaten during festivals or outdoor events.
