The Georgia CJCC
The CJCC financially and programmatically supports innovative programs and services to improve criminal justice and empower victims in the state of Georgia.
What is The Georgia CJCC?

- Created in 1981 by the Georgia General Assembly
- Coordinates the major components of the criminal justice system by establishing a state-wide coordinating body which represents all components and all levels of the criminal justice system
- Administer grants and aid to state and local criminal justice entities
- Administers many state agencies such as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is in control of the program’s rule and policy making and budget preparation
- Represents many efforts to create a statewide body that would build consensus and unity among the state's diverse and interdependent, criminal justice system components.

- The CJCC serves as the state administering agency for federal grant programs.
- Manages state grant programs that are funded by the Georgia General Assembly.
- The funds are administered to programs that focus on criminal justice reforms and victims of violent crimes such as Georgia Crimes Victim Compensation Program.
- Develops criminal justice legislative and executive policy proposals
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system.

- Fair and Open Grants Act. The provisions of the Fair and Open Grants Act of 1993 (O.C.G.A. §§ 28-5-120 thru 127)
- O.C.G.A. § 45-10-3 which are enforced as provided in O.C.G.A. § 45-10-4. Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interest.
- O.C.G.A. § 15-21-130- 134 Funding for Local Assistance Programs
- O.C.G.A. § 17-15-1 Victim's Compensation
Per the Administrative Assistant, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is not a legal agency. Therefore, most administrative work is done through the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
