1st amendment

The freedom of speach, religion, press, assembley, petition.

people are not forced to be in one set religion, or opinion

The right to bear arms.

people have a right to own weapons to defend themselves

Housing and quartering

A soilder does not have to force you to let him stay in your house.

this is not much of an issue today as it was back then after the revolutionary war

4th Amendment

Search and seizure

No unreasonable searches without probable cause.

4th Amendment

if a policeman has no probable cause he does not have to search you or your belongings

5th Amendment

Right to a Jury trial

You cant be charged for the same crime twice

5th Amendment

You dont have to testify yourself

6th amendment

Right to a speedy and public trial

6th Amendment

Can be judged by people that are selected by both councles

The trial cannot be dragged on to keep people in prison for more time

7th Amendment

Trial by jury in civil cases

Is usually dealt with smaller lawsuits that excede 20 dollars

7th Amendment

we can take civil cases to court to challange the other people acusing you

8th Amendment

No excessive fines. No cruel or unusual punishment.

you cant be fined one million dollars for a misdomener.

8th Amendment

The electric chair is considered cruel punishment

9th Amendment

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

You have rights that are not stated in the constutution

9th Amendment

People think that they dont have certain rights yet they can and do

10th Amendment

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Powers that governmet does not have are given to the states or the people

10th amendment

Was put in place to ensure the union and states were given the powers they need
