In short, primary socialisation has an important place in our lives and the case of Genie Wiley is a great example for this.
Why socialasition is important?
The case of Genie shows us that when primary sociolisation is not a part of a child's life there are severe consequences. Kids like Genie are not able to fit in with the society beacuse of the absence of socialisation in their lives.
Feral and isolated children don't have the human behaviours that are considered normal. Mostly they are not able to eat normal food, wear conventional clothing, walking upright, using the toilet properly and can not speak even after they are saved from their lifestyle.
All of these shows us that socialisation is a really important part in our lives. Feral chidren may be biologically human but they are unable to be a part of the essential human life. Without socialisation we wouldn't have the things that made us human and won't be considered as a human being.

The Story of Genie Wiley
Genie is an isolated child, she was kept in a room with hands and body tied to a chair by her abusive father as he thought she had mental problems and since her mother and brother was also dealing with abuse by the father, they couldn’t speak up for Genie.
She was kept in that room; fed everyday but given no human interaction and was provided with a very little stimulation for approximately 13 years, from 22 months old to 13 years old.
When genie was found, she was unable of performing human behaviour that was considered as ‘normal’. Her progress and actions documented by researches, it was soon discovered that she could not stand upright and could only walk like a rabbit; her hands held up in front of her.
She also was unable to focus things that weren’t close to her and she couldn’t chew food since she was always given liquid food. To add up, she couldn’t speak other than forming simple sentences.
She was unable to make her way through and didn’t show enough progress to live a normal life, so she still lives in institutions. It is still not clear if her problems were from birth-if a mental illness is the reason- or if they are the outcome of the extreme neglect she was held of.
Feral and Isolated Children
Feral and isolated children are whom are faced with extreme abuse an neglect with no social interaction; isolated children are given food, yet, hasn't had any human contact so that the children miss out on primary socialisation and so on.
