James-Lange Theory vs. Schachter-Singer Two Factor Theory

James-Lange Theory
- This theory was first brought up by a physiologist named William James. Then was later developed by physiologist Carl Lange.
- Was established in 1884
- With this theory it is believed that physiological arousal is what sets of your emotions
- For example if you were to encounter lets say a snake that instance would trigger your heart rate to increase. This increase is was initially made us realized we were in fear.

Schachter-Singer Two Factor Theory.
Second theory
- It was established by Stanley Schachter and Jerome E. Singer.
- This theory was created in 1962
- It is believed that this theory states emotions are based on physiological arousal and cognitive label.
- An example would be if you were to see a snake you could feel one of 2 things either fear or joy. It depends on what your sympathetic nervous system activates.

I believe that the James-Lange is the most plausible theory out of both. The examble being that when you come across a moment of fear your heart races. As we talked about it earlier it cuases you to realize youre afraid.
