Today I am going to be talking about the 4 aspects of housekeeping.
They are: roomattendant, laundry, public area, and pool.
It is the duty of a room attendant to make sure the rooms are clean and well kept. But what does that mean?
The first step is to strip the beds that is the term we use when talking about the removal of the bed sheets.
After that they are brought to the laundry for washing, so that they can be used fot the next rooms.
Now that that is done the room attendants can start dusting the room and making the new bed, first they put the fitter than a flat after that they put the blanket and lastly the top.
The final thing to do now is to clean the furniture and to vacuum or sweep the room.
The bathroom is next on the list of a room attendant.
They usually start by clean the shower and/ or bath depending on what kind of room they are in. Room attendants usually don't use a lot of chemicals for this step. Next up they clean the sink and start putting cleaning chemicals in the toilet.
while the chemicals are sinking in, they start putting the right amount of towels in the bathroom. In a room with 2 beds, you put 3 hand towels, 3 face towels, 3 bathing towels and 1 foot towel. But in a room with 1 bed you put 2 of each
except for the foot towel that stays 1.
Once that is done they clean up the toilet and mop the bathroom.
When the whole room is cleaned up
the room attendant has 2 more things to do and that is to clean up the mini fridge. They also make sure there is still enough coffe and thea if not they will refill it.
Lastly they put the tv on chanel 33 and the volume on 8. After that they put the room on clean by dialing the code on the rooms phone.
Next up is Laundry. It is the responsibility of the laundry workers to make sure all the sheets are clean and ready to use so that the room attendants can use them on time.
Next to that there is also guest Laundry. Guest will call housekeeping for pick up and pay after service.
Public area workers have 5 main task to do.
Number one is cleaning the lobby of the hotel. if there are still guest around the area the cleaner should go and return back later because interupting the guest is not polite.
The parking lot is next on the list. The cleaner has to make sure to empty the garbage bins and he/she has to sweep the hotel enterance.
Thirdly we have the back offices of the hotel. the four Departements there are: finance, front desk, F and B and sales. It is the cleaners responsibility to empty out the garbage cans to sweep the floor and to mop it.
Next are the public toilets of the hotel. The cleaner cleans both the mens and the woman toilets the last place to mop is under the mens urinals. Because that is the most dirty place since piss can sometimes fall on the floor.
It is also important to note that the public restroom gets checked at every hour of the day.
Lastly we have the staff area what contents: the halls, the toilets, the cafeteria and the elevator. All the cleaner needs to do is sweep and mop the places. Except fot the toilets because they will need to scrub the toilets as well.
And on every monday the housekeeping office is getting cleaned and vacuumed as well.
And lastly there is the pool area which is the quickest to do.
the worker needs to put bathing towels on all of the lounge chairs and lift the parasols up. Other than that the worker needs to make sure that the pool is clean and that the pool deck is swept.
the pool area also have its seperate toilets which will need to be checked and cleaned hourly.
Other than than the person working at the pool usually helps ther people in the laundry.
