Critique
This source is effective in using evidence to inform the audience. Throughout the report, data and statistics are given to inform the audience which include citations and explanations. For example, when talking about the completion rates of post-secondary education in America, it gives a line graph from 2010 to 2020 showing the trends for multiple levels of degrees. After this, the report gives critical information outlining the differences throughout the year, for example, outlining the increase in rate of completing a master’s went up by 22%. The report does a great job in giving data and explaining it.

Evidence that made me think
Baeder, Justin. "Why U.S.
Schools are Simply the Best." EducationWeek, October 22, 2012.
There is an idea from the article that sparks new thinking about my research problem. Baeder mentions that a factor that make the United States education system great, is that there is free access to education for all children in the United States. He also includes that countries that excel at test scores do not offer an equal access to education for everyone. Baeder, continues by stating that access to education in the U.S. is not based on whether people can afford education, need transportation, or can afford necessities for school such as uniforms, lunch, or even a home.
Critique
The author does an excellent job at using evidence to support his claims. He talks in rhymes that catch the attention of the audience and uses visuals to help. For example, when he talks about the lack of change in the school system since 150 years ago, he first starts by showing pictures of phones and cars from today, and then from 150 years ago. Later, with impact, he shows what classrooms look like today versus 150 years ago, which look the exact same. He does a great job at getting the audience’s attention with visual evidence and emphasis.
