No Clouds- Clear sky
stratocumulus produce no precipitation, and when they do, it is generally only light rain or snow
The EYE is located directly in the center of the hurricane. The average diameter of the eye is 20-40 miles across. Larger storms, such as typhoons in the Pacific, may have eyes as wide as 50 miles. The entire storm rotates around the eye. Inside the eye the wind is calm, the skies are clear, and the air pressure is very low.
The eyewall consists of a ring of tall thunderstorms that produce heavy rains and usually the strongest winds.
Rainbands
Curved bands of clouds and thunderstorms that trail away from the eye wall in a spiral fashion. These bands are capable of producing heavy bursts of rain and wind, as well as tornadoes. There are sometimes gaps in between spiral rain bands where no rain or wind is found.
1. Continuous Evaporation and water cycle
3. Convergent Winds
- The difference between high and low pressure system creates winds.
Accumulation of high speed wind towards the a particular area is called convergent wind
2. Warm and moist air rises upward from the ocean creating low pressure area near the ocean surface
Evaporation of water at ocean surface of temperature of 26.5 C or higher
4. As warm air rises towards the cooler parts of the atmosphere, its cools off and water vapor begins to cool off and water vapor begins to evaporate to form clouds.
3. Air from surrounding high pressure area rushes toward the low pressure area.
Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph
