In this presentation I willl be discussing about the Daily Life in New France. Some topics that I will cover include: transportation, economy, and employement.
New France made a lot of money from things like The fur trade and fishing. They also made money by sending all of Canada's natural resources to Europe.
France is powerful but has limited land mass.
Employment
New France had a variety of jobs like we have today. Some of the jobs are similar to the jobs that we have today, and some may be different. A major difference is that only some jobs are for girls and some jobs are for boys.
Here are some Jobs for women:
These are for Men
1. Fishermen
2. Woodcutter
3. Priest - a priest is a religious leader, in other words, the leader of a church
1. Midwives
2. Nuns
3. Filles du Roi - The New France population wasn't growing fast enough, so the king of France sent Filles du Roi over to get married and have children. Filles du Roi translates to "King"s Daughters".
Today, a man or woman could do pretty much any job. Back in New France, only a certain amount of jobs were available for both women and men. Here are a few:
1. Teachers
2. Habitants - The Habitants were a group of French settlers who came to New France to live a better life.
3. Clergies - Clergies mostly conducted things like marriages, funerals, and baptisms.
The Europeans had very different ways to get around. Today, we have cars, trains, buses and planes, but back then, things were different and they weren't invented yet. They had things like horses & Wagons and canoes. A lot of the time, they got around on foot. Transportation is fit under 2 categories; Land and water.
