Introduction
What is a reading specialist?
A reading specialist is a teacher who have been trained or has a master degree in education to help struggling readers and help teachers identify struggling readers (International Literacy Association, 2018).
What are the roles of a reading specialist?
- Collaborating with teachers leading and planning professional developments
- Scheduling meetings
- Support teachers in creating plans to help struggling readers meet their goals
- Helping teachers create and implementing goals (International Literacy Association, 2018).

- A family reading night will be scheduled once a month. No homework is assigned school wide so the family can spend time together and enjoy a good book.

- Provide resources and ideas for parents to support literacy at home.
