Letter to the Playground Bully

by:Andrea Gibson

5/22/2018

Tone

The tone of the poem is saddness and powerful. I know this becase it is sad what they say and do but it only makes her stronger.

THEME

THE THEME

The theme of the poem is that bullying can hurt and can cause lifetime damage on people

The Problem

The Problem

The problem is that people say mean things and don't think about what they are saying. (ex: "I know some people get a whole lot of rocking in the rocking chair and the ones who don't sometimes get rocks in their voice boxes, and their voice boxes become slingshots.") This is saying how we can get a lump in our throt and dont tell, but evetualy it will shoot out and be very powerful.

The Solution

The Solution

The solution that they say is to make it positive and make it in a good way so it doesn't hurt as much.

(ex:"But you absolutely missed when you told the class I have head lice

‘cause I one hundred percent absolutely do not have head lice

and even if I do it is a fact that head lice prefer clean heads over dirty ones

so I am clean as a whistle on a tea pot." This means that you can isult me and be mean but i will find a way to make them feel the way I do.

Sighnificance

The significance of the title "Letter

To The Playground Bully"

Significance

The Significance

Letter To The Playground Bully

The significance of the title Letter To The Playground Bully, is that this poem is a slam to a bully and she is standing up to the bully in a poetic way. For example,so write back soon. Sincerely yours. This is the ending of the poem and she is standing up to the bully and daring the bully to respond.

Performance Elements

Performance Elements

The Performance Elements of the poem are that she did an interterpretive dance to go with the poem and did moves to go with it. She lipsyncs the words and does fatial expresstions to go with it. It makes me understand how she feels by the movement she makes. https://youtu.be/AxFyPYnl0cU

Example 1

Imagery

The first example of imagery is "maybe there are cartwheels in your mouth maybe your words will grow up to be a gymnasts maybe you have been kicking people with them by accident." In your head you might think of cartweels and growing up and becoming a better person and stronger.

Imagery is words that you can visualise in your head/making a story in your head

Imagrey

Example 2:

My second example of imagery is "I know my heart is a broken freezer chest 'cause I can never keep anything frozen." In your head you might think of a heart broken by cold hearted people
