The Cape York Gold Rush

As they saw the Indigeonous, they immedietly tried kidnapping local tribal men and women, in hopes of learning their language for their business. The Indigenous retaliated and then killed up to nine of Willem Janszoons men. As the Dutch saw how they dangerous they were they left as soon as they could.

After Edmund having the job of being a Surveyor, he was given a job of finding an overland route in The Gulf of Carpentaria. He brought 30 men an Aboriginal guide, Edmunnd having cattle, bullocks and horse as well as provisions for him and his crew. Whilst travelling through moist rainforests, tough terrains and scorching dryland. Edmund has a loss of provisions and there was less livestock, some of Edmund's men had gotten sick and passed away. There were only five people in Edmund Kennedy's group. Three men one of them having an illness Edmund's Aboriginal guide that went by the name 'Jacky-Jacky' inlcuding Edmund himself.

On the year 1605, Willem Jaszoon set out with his men to sail to find a new land in a ship called 'The Duyfken' Dutch for 'Little Dove'. Sailing from Western Papua New Guinea sailing all the way to the Gulf of Carpentaria'. Willem and his men landed on Pennefather Beach. Upon their arrival, they were unexpectedly met with Indigeonous people of what is known as Australia.

In the year 1770 after landing onto what is now called 'Botany Bay', Sydney, New South Wales. James Cook sailed with the 'HMS Endeavour' and headed up north of Australia, soon landing in on Palmer River on calling what will soon to be a city called 'Cook's Town' later renamed to 'Cooktown'. Where he later sailed back to Britain to have convicts and people have settlement.

Whilst one of his men were sick Edmund had left two men behind most livestock during that time being dead, Edmund and his guide 'Jacky-Jacky' went ahead to go the Gulf of Carpentaria. During their exploration, a group of Aborigines had attacked Edmund and ended up spearing him, wounding his chest; leaving Jacky-Jacky to be the only one to finish Edmund's job. Jacky-Jacky had eventually made it to that overland route and seeked help for Edmund, but by the time they had gotten there, Edmund had unfortunately died, as well as his men that were left behind.

1873 was the year that an explorer named William Hann was set out to explore a place called Palmer River. William had refugees as his miner. After a while of digging they had found a hotspot of gold that had set Cooktown for years. Cooktown had eventually became the first biggest city in Australia, because of its finding. Cooktown had over 10 retails, hotels, pubs and sites for residents to go to and for tourists to come by and explore in Cooktown. It's popularity grew larger and larger as the town did, having its population to be over 4,000 residents and locals. But it is now to have 2,000 or more.

World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global conflict that took place from 1939 to 1945. It involved many countries and had a serious impact on the world. During this time many countries were fighting for different reasons for example, Germany invading Poland and a significant time widly known as 'The Holocaust'. Another country (Japan) was planning and tried to conquer parts of Asia and the Pacific. A significant during the attemped conquer of the Pacific, Japan had bombed the hawaiin and Meditteranian islands. One Island known as the Pearl Harbour had been unexpectedly bombed by Japan whilst US Navy was there. Australia had also fought along side the US being a country for the injured and for those allies in need of help. Which meant that Japan would also bomb Australia, they had bombed a city known as Darwin in 'The Northern Territory'. Research discovered that over 61 million civilians and military had tragically died throughout these years. World War II is one of the most significantly known event that had tragically occurred.
