Advantages:

  • When students discuss and listen to others responses, their written responses are higher quality.
  • Children strengthen their knowledge, expand cognitive learning, show interest, and provide personal experiences.

Disadvantages:

  • Misconceptions about topics.
  • Teachers feel that if students don't have prior knowledge, a KWL chart will not be a successful tool.
