What your interviewer really

wants to know

  • Competences : Interviewers focus on working methods, willingness to learn, passion for the job and social skills. They want to make sure that you are up to all the challenges of the job.
  • Team spirit: Managers often pay attention to conformity. Your job opportunities increase significantly the more you learn to "fit in".
  • Success: Whoever can point to remarkable achievements from his previous career accumulates plus points.

Scoring with Small Talk

Whether we find someone likeable or trustworthy is often decided in the first few minutes of a conversation. This small talk at the beginning is an important social interaction. It should break the ice, reduce the excitement of the applicants, create atmosphere. But this process is not that innocent.

Finding the balance

The art is to find the right balance - between perfect self-presentation and persuasion leaving a bit of speculation. Between factual precision and personal insight.

In all phases of an interview.

Irrelevantly relevant

  • Relevant information is not yet being exchanged. The content of the conversation falls into the category: seemingly irrelevant.

  • But this is exactly where the danger lies: candidates underestimate these first five minutes.
  • Practice your appearance accordingly with friends, acquaintances or a coach. The central question is: How do I look to you: open, friendly, confident?

Getting to know you and Self-presentation

Interviewers use this chance to experience and observe

the real you

Did you cheat on your CV/Cover letter?

Keep it real!

Ask Questions

Whenever you're given the opportunity to ask- ASK!

This is a test. The interviewer wants to know your real interest in the job and check how intensively you have prepared for the interview.

Why is this position open?

What distinguishes your best employees?

Do you have any doubts about my suitability for

this position we should talk about?

How do you promote talent and strengths?

What exactly does this company do?

How are my chances?

Are you doing further research on my career?

When can I go on holiday?

Completion and Follow up

Saying goodbye to the interviewer has 3 (unofficial) rules:

Smile and give thanks

Say goodbye to everyone by name

Shake hands - with eye contact

  • Reflect
  • Write a thank you letter
  • Stay active in the job search
