In this presentation I will be talking about rainforest
The climate of a rain forest is very hot and humid so the animals and plants that exist there must learn to adapt to this climate. Rainforests basically have four layers to them. As many as 30 million species of plants and animals live in tropical rainforests.
One third of the world's tropical rainforests are in Brazil. Other tropical rainforests are located in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands (25% of the world's tropical rainforests) and West Africa (18%). Temperate rainforests are found along some coasts in temperate zones.
The forest floor is the bottom layer and covers the ground of the rainforest. Due to the height and number of trees in the rainforest, very little sunlight reaches the forest floor and plants have a hard time growing. The understory goes to about 60 feet above the forest floor. It is made up of the trunks of trees that continue into the top two layers, smaller trees, and shrubs. With the tree tops above it, plants in this layer adapt to survive in conditions with little direct sunlight. The Canopy Layer lies right beneath the Emergent Layer of the tropical rainforest and above both the Understory and Floor layer.
About 80% of the sunlight is absorbed at the Canopy Layer, leaving the below layers with very little sunlight.
Most of the rainfall is captured by the Canopy Layer and very little gets to the plants at the lower levels. The plants at lower levels must survive on the excess rain that trickles off of the trees and drips from the leaves.
