WHOA! Social media has impacted the human race immensely!
Because we use social media so frequently and primarily to communicate and share content with friends and family, it plays a significant role in practically everyone's lives.
There are two effect's of social media on human behavior, positive effects and NEGATIVE effect's
It depends on how you look at it
Here are a few negative effects
A False Sense of Connection
Cyber-bullying
Privacy
Decreased Productivity
Are all these negative sides worth it? You're the judge of that
Steven Strogatz from Cornell University claims that social media platforms can make it more challenging for us to discern between the deep connections we make outside and the countless casual connections we make online. He worries that by spending so much of our time and emotional energy on these unimportant connections, our most crucial bonds will deteriorate.
Social internet offers both friends and predators the immediate communication that it does. Cyberbullying is a behavior in which attackers intimidate victims in front of their peers while acting anonymously or even impersonating persons the victims trust. Children in particular are particularly susceptible to this activity. These cyberattacks' destruction might leave lasting psychological scars. The victims have even been pushed to commit suicide in a number of well-known situations. Online anonymity can make negative impulses that might otherwise be repressed more obvious. In 2010, a CBS News investigation found that 42% of young people reported having experienced cyberbullying.
While many businesses utilize social networking sites to connect with and communicate with customers, these platforms can also be a major source of employee distraction since they may cause them to become preoccupied with what their friends are posting rather than with their assigned job. Wired. com published two studies that showed the harm social networking causes to productivity: Nucleus Research found that Facebook reduces workplace productivity by 1.5%, and Morse asserted that British businesses lose 2.2 billion year as a result of the social phenomenon. Social networks can now be banned using new technology solutions, although their efficacy is still questionable.
People are encouraged to share more details about their personal life on social networking sites. Users frequently skip the filters they might ordinarily apply while discussing their private life because posting private information is so simple. Additionally, the content they provide is always accessible. While a photo of friends having a good time at a party can initially look innocent, it might be less appealing to a potential employer running a background check. Although most websites let users choose who can see the content they've submitted, these restrictions are frequently overlooked, challenging to manage, or don't function as effectively as claimed.

Teenagers gain a sense of independence when they customize their accounts. They get to join groups that help them "fit in" and develop their identity, in addition to being able to express their views and interests with others.
Recent studies show that many teenagers have not chosen the path of suicide, thanks to these tools. Blogging can be therapeutic for teens who are confused, down, or need to vent frustrations. When they log on to social community, they find people to talk to and those who'll listen.
Facebook likes and good comments tend to be overwhelmingly positive. For pick-me-up days, teens can check their profiles and automatically gain affirmation, validation, confidence and self-esteem.

Teenagers can make new pals from far-off places and other regions using social media. Teenagers who interact with people from many cultures may develop a greater sensitivity to cultural differences.
Sooo......?
Ultimately it is entirely up to you on how you see social media! So you've seen the negative and positive effect's of social media and I hope you enjoyed the presentation!
In this presentation, we will see both the advantages and threats of social media.
1- Increased criminal prosecution because of social media
The NYC Police dep. began using Twitter back in 2011 to track criminlas foolish enough to brag about their crimes online. When the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup in 2011, their Vancouver fans took to the streets and rioted, but local authorities used social media to track and tag the people involved, they caught people who were stealing during the riot.
Statistics show that 70% of adults have used social media sites to connect with relatives in other states, and 57% of teens have reported making new friendships on social media sites.
This statistic on the benefits and drawbacks of social media and its impact on kids' academic success is intriguing. 50% of students with internet access say they use social networking sites to talk about schoolwork, while another 59% say they discuss educational topics.
Take a hard look at all the Facebook support groups if you want to discuss both the beneficial and detrimental aspects of social media. Members of these communities talk openly about their health issues, exchange crucial facts and helpful resources, and build robust support systems.
Social internet has made job sourcing more contemporary. 89% of hiring managers use websites like LinkedIn as a key resource when searching for potential candidates.
Social media makes it simple for users to establish and maintain relationships, but it also opens a door for online threats and criminals. We'll talk about potential risks that could appear on Facebook and Twitter, two widely used social media platforms.

In this case study it was analyzed that the positive and negative findings were found when the research on how social media affects pupils' emotional characteristics was reviewed. However, cases of the latter were more prevalent, and tension, worry, and other negative psychological symptoms were not insignificant either.
These results were discussed in relation to some more pertinent theories, like the social comparison theory, which hypothesized that many of the potential problems with the younger generation's excessive use of social media were brought on by the unfair comparisons they made between their own lives and the idealized portrayals of others on social media.
It is important to keep in mind that the widespread use of social networking among students may not actually deliver on its promised promises of social support and communication. Comparing their current situation with the snippets of their peers' or others' lives can cause them to lose self-awareness and thankfulness.
An unhappy or anxious attitude may come next. In order to combat the negative consequences of the flimsy support they receive on social media, students in schools or colleges must acquire self-worth. Families, administrators at schools or colleges, and most importantly teachers, should support them along the journey.
Counseling services may aid in educating kids about the potential psychological risks that social media may pose to their wellbeing. This has already been mentioned. Social media is so pervasive that it affects everyone's life, including student life, on a global scale. It follows that additional coping and compensatory measures should be developed to lessen the negative psychological impacts of students' widespread usage of social media.
Additionally, it is important to assess social media's affective affects from an ecological or contextual standpoint rather than generalizing them. This implies that when using social media, students may experience various emotions at various times or in various circumstances.
In more detail, given the stative approach to students' emotions, what students emotionally go through when using social media can be connected to their intra-personal and interpersonal experiences. As a result, it is possible for a single learner to experience multiple emotions at different times. Additionally, it is not always possible to generalize a learner's emotional state as a result of their use of social media to the entire class.
Since studies on the psychological effects of social media on student life have been focused on school kids rather than students in higher education, it appears premature to draw any firm conclusions about this group in particular. Future research into the complex psychological demands of college students and a greater understanding of their needs should make it possible to draw more enlightening conclusions about how social media affects their emotional states.
