What is descriptive details?
Why is it important in fiction?
With your shoulder partner, summarize what you read for your HW.
One person summarize chapter 8 and the other person summarize chapter 9.
You will have 3mins to write your summaries. Then each partner will take turns sharing their responses .
You have 10mins to answer the following questions. Be sure to write in complete sentences and use text evidence.
Snapshots are sensory details that are external. What does something sound like, smell like, taste like, look like, feel like? What are characters doing? Where is the scene--time and place?
Thoughtshots are feelings or thoughts that are internal. Descriptions of what characters are thinking, remembering, asking themselves, or feeling helps readers understand characters.
How do these techniques (snapshots and thoughtshots) help readers?
